How to Start Your Own Library: A Workshop
Ever dreamed of starting your own library? Of creating a space for like-minded people to come together over books and ideas? A place for children to be inspired, and develop a love of reading from an early age?
Stop dreaming and start doing!
In this online workshop, Sylvia Arthur, the Founder of the Library Of Africa and The African Diaspora (and four other libraries), will share all you need to know about the dreams and realities of starting your own library.
From the planning stages to the practicalities, this interactive workshop will take you through the various things you need to think through and do - from sourcing books to securing a location, from designing the space to maintaining your collection. Learn how to make your library a living, vibrant place!
With plenty of time for Q&A, this workshop is for anyone who's ever dreamed of sharing their love of books with a wider audience and of creating a space for others to dream.
Available as a 90-minute group workshop (maximum group size: 8. Workshop takes place twice a month on a given date) or as a private, one-to-one consultation (60 minutes on a mutually-agreed date). Both take place online.
